EPSDT is an important component of Virginia Medicaid for eligible children and adolescents.
Virginia Medicaid explains that medically necessary services may be available under EPSDT on a case-by-case basis when the service is required to correct or ameliorate a child’s condition. Covered services accessed through EPSDT can include, among others, personal care and private duty nursing.
Caring Home Health Services LLC supports families navigating applicable EPSDT-related home-based services and care needs, subject to Medicaid eligibility, medical necessity, service authorization, and the requirements of the applicable program.
We work with families to help them understand:
EPSDT services are not automatically approved simply because a child has Medicaid.
Services are subject to applicable Medicaid requirements, medical necessity determinations, and authorization procedures.
Our role is to facilitate and support services—we do not determine Medicaid eligibility or guarantee authorization.
Note on program structure: EPSDT is a Medicaid coverage pathway for medically necessary services for eligible children. It is distinct from the CCC Plus Waiver. Caring Home Health Services LLC does not market EPSDT as a waiver program.
