Clear answers to common questions about Consumer-Directed services.
Consumer-Directed care is a service-delivery model in which an eligible Medicaid member or designated representative assumes applicable responsibility for employing and managing an attendant.
Consumer Direction is designed to give the EOR the ability to recruit, interview, select, and manage eligible attendants, subject to Medicaid requirements.
Our role in this program is Services Facilitation. We do not function as the employer of your Consumer-Directed attendant.
Payroll and related fiscal/employer administration are handled through the applicable Fiscal/Employer Agent.
Services and hours depend on eligibility, assessed need, medical necessity where applicable, the individual’s service plan, and authorization requirements. Caring Home Health Services LLC cannot guarantee a specific number of hours.
Certain family members may qualify as paid attendants under Virginia Medicaid rules, but requirements and limitations may apply. Eligibility must be evaluated according to the individual’s circumstances and current Medicaid requirements.
Contact your Services Facilitator as soon as possible when there is a significant change in health, functional ability, living situation, caregiver availability, hospitalization, or other circumstances that could affect services.
Eligible authorized services may be reimbursed through Virginia Medicaid when all applicable program requirements are satisfied.
We can provide general information and help you understand the service-facilitation process, but Medicaid eligibility and waiver/service authorization are determined by the appropriate Virginia Medicaid entities.
